Diamonds, Champagne, couture outfits, bespoke shoes and hats fit for a Queen – all in the luxury surroundings of The Savoy, London... the perfect evening for guests of Women in Racing thanks to the generous hospitality of Boodles, the exciting British fine jeweller.
Canapés and Champagne were served while guests learned more from the three showcased designers and Boodles itself. A unique opportunity to get close up and actually try on some exquisite creations.
The event was instigated by WiR member Claire Thorogood who creates couture outfits for women looking to show their individuality through their wardrobe.
Guests were also introduced to Rachel Trevor Morgan, milliner to HRH the Queen, who is renowned for her beautiful handwork and design and also Silvia Campbell, professional shoe designer and craftswoman, who makes beautiful, comfortable bespoke shoes. Manager for Boodles at The Savoy Adam Monger offered some background on the family-owned jewellers, which has been managed by the Wainwright family since 1798.
Boodles already celebrates a distinguished connection with British horseracing through its sponsorship of the May Festival at Chester and the Top Jockey award at The Cheltenham Festival as well as designing the Crabbie's Grand National Trophy – so conversation remained lively and 'on topic' all evening.
It was a truly sparkling start to the festive season and WiR is grateful to Boodles for their hospitality, the three designers for sharing their passion and all the guests who were able to attend.
