Women in Racing member and Mentor Rachel Flynn has been selected to ride in the 350th running of Newmarket Town Plate as part of the Newmarket 350th birthday celebrations.

Flynn, who is wife of Newmarket based trainer Rae Guest, will ride Opera Buff over the 3 mile 6 course on 7 July, the first day of the July meeting. The Newmarket Town Plate is the oldest recorded horserace in Newmarket, founded by Charles II who won the first running and declared that it should be run ‘forever’.

The race is part of the history of horseracing’s HQ , with the first four riders home receiving a box of Powters Newmarket sausages.

Rachel is hoping to raise some money for the Animal Health Trust, a local charity of which she is a trustee saying; "They do so much good work – largely unseen and uncelebrated – that enables racing and breeding to flourish through, among other things, the control and monitoring of equine disease".

If you would like to support Rachel please do go along and give her a cheer, you can also donate to her fundraising efforts via https://www.justgiving.com/Rachel-Flynn7.
