‘RACING HOME’ WEBINARS
delivered by Simply Racing, hosted on Zoom Video Conferencing
We are now pleased to announce “Racing Home” Webinars. These are an exciting, collaborative set of six FREE TO ATTEND live, online webinars developed again by Women in Racing in partnership with The Racing Foundation, Kindred Group and Oxford Brookes University.
Whilst we managed to hold two vibrant workshops in Kelso and at Southwell, the remaining Women in Racing hosted ‘Racing Home’ workshops were postponed due to the ongoing COVID-19 crisis.
These webinars for parents (and those considering parenthood) across all areas of the sport aim to raise awareness of the challenges working parents face in the UK horseracing industry. Similar to the workshops, these webinars, through the sharing of experiences and the resulting discussions, will ensure a more comprehensive understanding of the decisions working parents face daily in our sport. Given the current situation the discussion is more relevant than ever.
Webinar Dates & Times:
- Monday, 27th April (Morning), 10.00am - 12noon
- Monday, 27th April (Afternoon), 1.00pm - 3:00pm
- Wednesday, 29th April (Morning), 10.00am - 12noon
- Wednesday, 29th April (Early Evening), 5.00pm - 7:00pm
- Monday, 4th May (Morning), 10.00am - 12noon
- Monday, 4th May (Afternoon), 1.00pm - 3:00pm
Each webinar will aim to explore in depth how it feels to be a working parent in the horseracing industry, to understand the decision making that takes place, to explore the impact of returning to work after maternity leave and examine the role that men can play.
The impact of having children and the work/life balance are topics which women are often hesitant to discuss openly as they fear it could affect their career prospects and alter their employer’s, colleagues’ or management’s perception of them. The webinars will allow stud and stable staff, racecourse employees, jockeys, vets, trainers, administrators, indeed all participants of our sport to share their experiences and contribute. In tandem with research from Oxford Brookes the webinars aim to positively impact on the day to day lives of working women in the horseracing industry.
