On Tuesday, Women in Racing committee member Susannah Gill, was a keynote speaker on day one of the 2018 Asian Racing Conference in Seoul.
Susannah was on a panel alongside Victoria Carter, Deputy Chair of New Zealand Thoroughbred Racing, Anna Seitz Ciannello, Client Development and Public Relations Manager of Fasig Tipton and Megumi Ichiyama, the Chief of Staff of the Japan Racing Association Publicity Department.
The panel was tasked with looking at ways to expand racing’s reach focusing on diversity.
The Asian Racing Conference, which is hosted bi-annually, comes a year on from the diversity research by Oxford Brookes University which was published at the 6th Women in Racing AGM at York Racecourse last May.
Susannah spoke about British Racing’s work on diversity and inclusion which, since its formation in 2009, has largely been largely driven by Women in Racing. Following the publication of the research by Oxford Brookes University, which was conducted in partnership with Women in Racing and the Racing Foundation, the sport now has a Diversity in Racing Steering Group which will be publishing an Action Plan in June.
